As part of its continued commitment to the local community, Temple & Hogsette Law Group has donated 250 bags to The Guest House at McLeod, providing comfort and essential supplies to families staying near their hospitalized loved ones at McLeod Regional Medical Center.

This charitable effort was made possible through the support of community partners, including by Drs. Miller, Thomas & Ta – Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, who contributed dental hygiene products, and Jody and Larry Chandler of Slim Chickens and Firehouse Subs, who donated gift cards to their restaurant. Each care bag includes shampoo, conditioner, soap, a comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, bottled water, a notepad and pen for recording medical updates, and the Slim Chickens gift card—offering both practical assistance and a touch of compassion.

“We are so fortunate to have the McLeod Guest House in Florence,” said Alec Hogsette, partner at Temple & Hogsette Law Group. “McLeod plays a vital role in the well-being of our region, and so many in our community have experienced its care firsthand. Contributing to the Guest House is a meaningful way for us to support those families facing medical hardships and to help lighten their burden during an already challenging time. This opportunity to support the Guest House is the perfect marriage between our organizations as we both see our work as providing a safe haven to those going through difficult and vulnerable times.”

What is the Guest House?

The Guest House at McLeod is the only facility of its kind in the region, offering a home-away-from-home for families of hospital patients. Located directly across from McLeod Regional Medical Center, the Guest House features 17 private bedrooms, a living room, den, library, meditation garden, and fully equipped kitchen. Funded entirely through charitable donations to the McLeod Health Foundation, it serves as a vital refuge—especially for young parents with infants in the NICU and others navigating extended or unexpected hospital stays.

Why support the Guest House?

Temple & Hogsette Law Group proudly supports the mission of the Guest House and the McLeod Health Foundation. “There’s a deep sense of purpose in supporting a hospital that gives so much to our community,” said E. Hood Temple, partner at the firm. “But when you hear the personal stories of families who’ve stayed at the Guest House or been directly touched by the McLeod Health Foundation, you realize just how far your support can go. It’s not just about giving—it’s about standing with people during some of the hardest moments in their lives.”

He continued, “The Guest House at McLeod offers more than a place to stay—it’s a safe, comforting haven during times of incredible stress. With these toiletry bags, we hope to ease just a small part of that burden. Families shouldn’t have to worry about errands or meals when their focus is on caring for a loved one. Our goal is to give them one less thing to worry about.”

The McLeod Foundation reaction

The Guest House is made possible thanks to generous contributions from individuals and businesses. “We are incredibly grateful to Temple & Hogsette Law Group, Drs. Miller, Thomas & Ta, and Jody and Larry Chandler for their generous support,” said Rebecca Jernigan, Development Officer at McLeod Health Foundation. “Every donation makes a difference, and these bags will bring comfort and peace of mind to families going through some of the hardest days of their lives. All gifts—large and small—are deeply appreciated.”
